With the third phase of polling to the State Legislative Assembly being conducted in Anantnag and Pulwama districts in south Kashmir, on October 1, today, terrorists launched a number of rocket and grenade attacks on security forces and polling stations on September 30. Terrorists lobbed a hand grenade at a polling station at the Government Primary School, Ariguthan, in the Damhal Hanjipora area of Noorabad constituency. Two SF personnel were injured in this incident. Within five minutes of the blast, terrorists hurled another grenade on the polling station at Middle School, Awdora, in the adjacent Kulgam constituency. It exploded inside the protected premises, causing injuries to two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel. In a separate incident, a polling station situated in the Government Primary School at Halan, Kokernag, was set ablaze. Terrorists launched minor attacks on National Conference (NC) candidate Bashir Ahmed Nengroo and Independent candidate Mohammad Yusuf Baghwan in the Pulwama area of south Kashmir. However, there was no loss of life or injuries reported in these incidents.
