Chairman of the Democratic Madhesi Front, Mohit Khan was shot dead by unidentified extremists at Birpur-5 village in the Kapilvastu district on September16-morning, according to Kantipuronline. Subsequently to the killing, violence gripped different areas of the district in which four other persons were killed. The violent mob consisting of Khan s supporters attacked and killed Hasan Puri, a constable with the Armed Police Force (APF), and a driver whose name is yet to be known, at Chandrauta. Hira Mani Kharel of Ganeshpur Village Development Committee (VDC) was also killed in the violence. Another unidentified body was found in Chadrauta bazaar (market) on September 17 (today), the police said. Some of the demonstrators claimed that the Maoist cadres were involved in Khan s killing. However, Maoists Kapilvastu district secretary, Sanjiv Kumar, denied his outfit s involvement.
