Maoists abducted Birendra Shah, the Bara correspondent of Kathmandu-based Nepal F.M in Bara district, reports Nepal News. Members of the Maoist-affiliated Tharuwan National Liberation Front abducted him from a place near Dagiya Basti on October 5. The Maoists, however, released Ram Dev Shah, the manager of a local newspaper 'Terai Khabar', who was abducted along with Birendra Shah. Local Maoist leaders have confirmed Shah s abduction, but have not confirmed the reason behind the abduction. Shah is also a central member of Press Chautari, a pro-UML media group.
