The Hindu reports that an anonymous e-mail threatening to blow up airports in the country on January 12 was received on December 15 by the Gurgaon (in Haryana) based call centre of Air India. An Air India official said on December 17, "The anonymous mail said airports would be bombed on January 12. Since it does not specify anything particular, this kind of threat falls under the non-specific category, which is a low-level threat. But since it pertains to the law and order situation, we referred the case to the police which is investigating the matter." Officials of the Central Industrial Security Force, which supervises security at the Delhi airport, said they had taken all steps to counter any adverse situation even though it was a non-specific threat.
