He was brought to Raichur and produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class in Raichur on July 22. After the death of Bhaskar, a Naxal leader from Srikakulam of Andhra Pradesh, in an encounter in a village in Raichur taluk in 1987, Nandakumar is said to have shifted his activities to the Western Ghats. Nandakumar was arrested by the Hyderabad Police and then handed over to the Shimoga Police.
