Times of India reports that Chichgarh Police raided a meeting of the Communist Part of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Piperkhari village in Deori tehsil (revenue division) of Gondia District on December 11. However, around 25 Maoists, including women, managed to escape. From the material recovered on the spot, the Police have registered offences against 17 persons. According to Police sources, some Maoists could have been gunned down, but the Police refrained from shooting as that could have injured some villagers also. All the Maoists were in their traditional dress, Police said.
