On the same evening, a counter-insurgent (CI) of the Muslim Mujahideen was abducted and killed by suspected Hizb terrorists at Shihlipora in Anantnag district. The slain CI was the second of the brothers of Azad Nabi, the former Muslim Mujahideen chief, to be killed by suspected Hizb terrorists. Azad Nabi was killed by Hizb terrorists on June 14, 2001. In another incident, a civilian was killed and her father injured when unidentified terrorists attacked them at Anone Chaba, Doda, also on October 17.
