Khamaru was a regional commander and the second-in-command of JMB in 2004, when its leader Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai was operating in the region. In a separate incident, the Police arrested one cadre of JMB from Nejampur station area in Nachole sub-District of Chapainawabganj District on July 23. The arrestee was identified as, Abdul Gofur (55), son of late Mokbul Hossain of the area.
