The joint Security Forces (SFs) arrested two wanted Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) leaders identified as Ranjan Munda and Baneshwar Murmu along with an SLR and a rifle, from Gopiballpur in West Midnapore District on August 3, reported The Asian Age. Munda, an area commander in-charge of the Nayagram squad, was arrested from Chilkathi village in Jhargram during an operation led by Additional Superintendent of Police (operations) Alok Rajoria. Involved in the abduction of Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Sankrail Police Station, Atindranath Nath Dutta in October 2009, Munda had carried out subversive activities in Jharkhand and Odisha apart from Jangalmahal. Murmu, an action squad leader of Jhargram, had accompanied Munda during the operation.
