Commenting on the arrest, District Superintendent of Police (SP), Avinash Kumar said The arrested Maoist leader was in our wanted list for his involvement in 10 Maoist offensives, including three murders. We launched an operation following intelligence inputs of his presence in the area. Police said Kastu led the Narayanpatna unit of Srikakulam-Koraput joint division committee of the Maoists and was expert in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), planting landmines and launching ambushes. Kastu was associated with Maoist leaders like Daya, Aruna and Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangha (CMAS) president Nachika Linga.
