37 cadres of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS) were arrested in Joypurhat and Jhenidah Districts on March 11, reports The Independent. In Joypurhat District, Police arrested 23 JeI-ICS cadres from different areas of the District. Police said they were arrested in connection with JeI-Police clash cases on March 3 and 4 during JeI hartal (general shut down). In Jhenidah District, Police arrested 14 JeI-ICS cadres on charge of murder of Constable Faruk Hossain. Police said that on March 3 JeI-ICS cadres attacked Police and hacked Faruk to death on the spot. 10 other Policemen also suffered injuries in the attack.
