Raj Reddy Pocham Gaddewar, a Police constable was shot dead by four suspected cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) near Assarali Police Station in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on June 27, reports The Hindu. Reddy was fired at from close range by four unidentified persons when he was returning home from a hospital in Assarali town around 2.30 p.m. According to some eyewitnesses, the attackers pushed away Reddy s wife and two children, and fired three rounds at him. The killing took place hardly 200 metres from the Assarali Police Station, where Reddy had been posted, and right in the middle of a crowded market. The attackers escaped under cover of the crowd.
