There were no reports of casualties or injuries from any side. The Maoists in the camp managed to escape into the dense jungle. But arms, ammunition, explosives and other material of Maoists were seized from the deserted camp. Kandhamal Superintendent of Police (SP) Kanwar Vishal Singh said a special operation was launched jointly by the personnel of the District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Kandhamal and Ganjam District on December 24 to unearth the secret camp of Maoists. Information regarding the camp came from a diary seized from a Maoist named Pratap Pradhan who was arrested during an extortion attempt two days ago. The seized items included two rifles, fifteen 9 mm ammunition, five bullets of SLR, one grenade, two landmines each weighing more than 10 kg, 13 detonators, four pairs of Maoist uniform, and two chargers of VHF communication sets, etc.
