The Shillong Times reports that a Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militant was killed by Police Commandos on May 1 at Daji Badimagre-Boldakgre village, a remote Chokpot region of South Garo Hills District in Meghalaya. The incident happened when the Police Commandos from Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) unit engaged in counter insurgency operation saw a group of GNLA militants who were going to the village. The Police recovered an AK-47 with several rounds of ammunition and a knapsack containing camouflage uniforms from the deceased. The militants who escaped in the encounter later returned and fired at the Security Forces (SFs).The Police later cordoned off the area and conducted a search and found a large camp which may have housed up to 40 cadres of the GNLA.
