Three people including a Sunni professor and a prominent Shiite leader, were killed by unidentified gunmen at Lahore early on March 19. The Sunni Professor Attaur Rahman and his driver were killed when they arrived at an institute in the city's Jain Mandar district. The Shiite leader Syed Hassan Raza was killed in the same area and by the same gunmen while they were fleeing from the area. A local police official said that it was not clear if the Shiite leader's killing was co-incidental but added that the attack as a whole appears to be an incident of sectarian violence.
