The Jharkhand police arrested a lawyer under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) at Kandu Mohalla, Daltonganj district on June 21. A 9 mm bore foreign-made police pistol with two magazines, a 1.38 bore service revolver, 30 rounds of 9 mm cartridges and 8 rounds of 0.38 bore cartridges were recovered from his possession. The district police chief said the lawyer, Sunil Prakash, during interrogation, confessed that the arms belonged to left-wing extremist, Naxalite of the People's War Group (PWG) and were handed over to him by a member of the outfit. The district police chief added that the hiding of the weapons in the lawyer's house could be a calculated move of the PWG and apprehended that the Naxals might be planning an attack in the town.
