Official sources said that two foreign mercenaries of the Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HuM) outfit were killed in an encounter in Lancha, about 10 kms from Gool in Udhampur district on July 5. The encounter occurred when SF personnel raided a terrorist hideout in Lancha's upper reaches where a group of four to five terrorists had reportedly taken shelter. According to these sources, the SF personnel were attacked by the terrorists from their hideout and in the ensuing encounter two terrorists were killed. The other terrorists managed to escape to an adjoining forest area and were being pursued by the SFs. Two AK rifles and four magazines were recovered from their possession.
