On January 12, police neutralized a weapons-making unit belonging to the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) in Rourkela and arrested five Maoists, including three women. According to The Hindu, police arrested a person at Khammam in Andhra Pradesh on January 11 and recovered spare parts of rifles from him. After his confession, a Maoist den in Rourkela was raided.
